I wrote “So Easy” when I gave up thinking that there would ever be an end to the tricks of the mind, the stresses and challenges that ripped me from momentary balance.
Self-compassion and forgiveness were the answer.

So easy pretend that we’re tough when we’re shoved
when it’s so hard

so easy to caught up in emotion

It’s so easy to get caught in ambition
so easy to get caught up on a mission that we didn’t chose
so easy to get caught up in regret
to forget that we do our best
easy to not let the past lie
so easy to get greedy to for the apple of our eye
to fear what we know so little of
so easy to forget that we are loved
to get overwhelmed
to forget that it’s enough for us to be ourselves
so easy to be shy and never show ourselves
so easy to see enemies
so hard to see your brother
not so to be present
but so easy to see ever present danger
so easy not to trust a stranger
so easy to forget that we are nature, it’s our nature
so easy to accept the limitations others give us
not so easy to just to live and let live
and live up to expectations, (reputations)
forgive yourself when you fall down
cos it’s easy to get caught up

It’s not easy in this world when a woman’s told she can never get older
not easy when a boy learns to be a real man he’s got to be cold and his soul hard
